Hi, I'm Lucho Hurtado.
I grew up mostly in the city of Huancayo, but traveled to and learned about the different regions
of Peru from an early age. My mother's family is from the mountains and we visited them often,
helping in the fields and with the livestock. In the 1960´s my father started farming in the jungle
and I got to know the native people of the area.
I was always interested in finding out about how all of these different
people lived, what their customs were and what crafts and products they created, so I made
friends all over the place. My friends have been generous in teaching me about their cultures
and I'm still learning. There is always something new to learn about! My friends have also
welcomed and taught the travelers who have accompanied me to their homes.
In 1979 I started taking travelers who wanted a richer experience of Peru with me into the different regions.
More and more tourists have found out about these visits and the business has grown.
In 1985 I met my wife Beverly, from New Zealand, and we started adding courses and other
services to the original adventure tours. In 1989, I founded Incas del Peru to coordinate all
of the different activities.
