Interested in learning the language of the INCAS?..... Quechua is still spoken by approximately 8 million people in Peru. Many Peruvians are bilingual, speaking both Spanish and Quechua.

• The courses for Quechua follow the same format as the Spanish Lessons, with prices depending on the type of course selected.
• The Quechua language is central to Andean life. To learn it you will need at least two weeks of basic vocabulary and a month to be able to engage in basic conversation.
• The reward of learning Quechua is that a whole new culture will become available to you. Extra lessons can be taken, at an additional cost of $US 8 per hour.

The Peruvian Andes are ALIVE with cultural activities. Visit us and learn skills from our local artisans. Incas del Peru provides the following cultural courses for those travelers seeking extra special activities:

• Weaving Courses:
  Learn to use traditional back strap looms from Pre-Hispanic times, or a pedal loom, to create your own special pieces. There are many different types of weavings in the Central Highlands. We can help you to choose the type you would enjoy most, and our teachers can teach you many different designs in that particular type of weaving.
• Spinning and Natural Dyes:
  This course is a great compliment to the weaving course. Natural dyes have been used in our Valley for thousands of years. Visit us and explore the countryside with our local people, collecting plants and herbs to create your own special dyes.
• Cooking Courses:
  Cook delicious and healthy Peruvian dishes, using our special cookbook compiled by Beverly. This course includes the fun of shopping at the colorful local market, selecting your own ingredients and sampling our exotic and ethnic flavors.
• Music Courses:
  Andean music makes every fiesta come alive! Learn to play a variety of instruments such as the Andean flute, pan flute, charango (small guitar) and guitar. Our methods are simple and practical in a small group .
• Dancing Courses:
  Learn many of the local folkloric dances from experienced dancers. Listen to the histories of each dance, and study the different costumes of each. Visit the villages where these dances are performed. Modern dances can also be taught
• Gourd Carving:
  Learn this traditional Andean craft from the experts, creating beautiful decorative and useful pieces. Journey to Cochas, the village of gourd carvers and visit the house of Delia, our own National Gourd Carving Champion.
• Jewellery Making:
  From the Pre- Inca times we have been given the art of jewelry making. Now we can put on your hands skills that require patience, good pulse and your own input to create the most beautiful pieces using wires stones, seeds, threads and a pair of pliers!!!
